Sage Selects Onyx Group

Neil at Sage BuildingNorth East technology solutions provider the Onyx Group has been handpicked to supply a key business continuity package to Sage (UK) Limited, a domestic and international leader in business and software services based in Newcastle.

Based in Team Valley, Onyx’s state-of-the-art Workplace Recovery Centre is equipped with the technology to enable businesses to continue trading should the unexpected happen.

The contract forms a key element of a robust Business Continuity resilience structure developed by Sage and further reinforces its commitment to protect its stakeholders in the event of a serious incident at its North Park Headquarters.

Neil Stephenson, Onyx Group chief executive officer, said: “We are delighted to be working with such a prestigious, well-respected business, well known for its diligence when choosing potential business partners and suppliers. This is an exciting deal for the Onyx Group and testament to the expertise, experience and top quality facilities that we offer in disaster management.”

Business continuity is an increasingly important subject for companies of all sizes and many professions are already subject to regulations requiring them to develop Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery contingency plans.

Andrew Morkot, Business Continuity Manager at Sage, said: “Whilst fires, floods and explosions will always make headlines, most things that damage a business are nowhere near as exciting and thankfully very rare. This doesn’t mean, however, that we can be complacent or let our guard down; businesses that are not prepared often never get a second chance. At Sage, we seek to identify, assess, respond to and effectively manage any situation that could endanger our people, affect our customers, hurt our business or damage our reputation.

I am delighted that we are working with a local supplier like Onyx and are now able to add this element to our overall resilience planning. I have been impressed by the facilities available and the flexible, professional attitude of all the staff at Onyx. We are pleased to be supporting another successful business in the North-East.”
Speaking about the deal, Jim Lee, business continuity services director at the Onyx Group, said: “Should a serious problem occur, Onyx will be on hand to assist Sage in their efforts to minimize disruption to customers: their highest priority. The centre is in an excellent position to support contact centre environments such as this.”

The Onyx Group recently announced its annual turnover of over £12m – quadrupling over the past two years. In addition to business continuity, it specialises in networks, hosting, security and managed services.
